Health and safety is always a top priority for us at the Los Angeles Marathon. This year, in response to the LA County “Mega Event” guidelines, we will be implementing the following health and safety measures to ensure a safe race weekend experience for all runners, volunteers, staff, vendors, and spectators.
Below you will find requirements and FAQ for attending and participating at the 2021 Los Angeles Marathon on Sunday, November 7, 2022.
Health and Safety FAQ
Do I need a vaccine to participate in the 2021 Los Angeles Marathon?
No, you do not need to be vaccinated. Non-vaccinated persons will need to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours.
What do I need to show proof of vaccine?
Acceptable proof of vaccination include: o Vaccine Record Card or Health Record o CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card o World Health Organization (WHO) Vaccine Record Card o Documentation of vaccination from the healthcare provider or entity that provided the COVID-19 vaccines o California Immunization Registry (CAIR2) Vaccination Record o Digital Vaccination Record issued by the California Department of Public Health or an approved company such as Healthvana or Carbon Health Additionally, any individual age 18 or older must produce identification bearing the same identifying information as the proof of vaccination.
Do I need to wear a mask at the event?
Masks are required at the Secure Start Line area at Dodger Stadium on Sunday, November 7 and while on Shuttles to the start line on November 7. Masks are recommended at all other times while not on the race course. Participants on course do not need to wear a mask.
Do participants on course need to wear a facial covering?
No, participants do not need to wear a mask once they cross the start line.
Do I need to be vaccinated or show negative covid-19 test to attend the Health & Fitness Expo?
No you do not.
Do I need to be vaccinated or show negative covid-19 test to attend the LA Big 5K?
No you do not.
Where will I have my vaccine status or Negative test checked?
All participants (who did not purchase Race Day Hospitality) are required to pick up their bib at the Health & Fitness Expo on November 5 – 6. Participants are required to show proof of Photo ID (which means an original or copy of an identification card including: Drivers license, government issued ID, school or work ID card, or passport) that matches the name on their bib and vaccine or testing record
Can my family and friends attend the marathon with me if they do not have a vaccine or negative covid-19 test?
Yes, but they cannot attend the Start Line Secure Area at Dodger Stadium without proof of vaccine or negative Covid-19 test.
What happens if I test positive for COVID-19 within 72-hours of the event?
Participants who test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of the event (on or after Monday, October 25, 2021) will have an opportunity to transfer their registration to virtual participation There are no refunds. All requests must be submitted by Saturday, November 6 and include proof of a COVID-19 result. Any requests submitted after November 6 will not be accepted.
Will there be Gear Check on race morning?
No, there will not be Gear Check race morning unless you have Race Day Hospitality. All participants will need to check their bag on Friday, November 5 or Saturday November 6 at the Health & Fitness Expo.
If I have Race Day Hospitality, do I need to attend the Health & Fitness expo for any reason?
No, if you purchased Race Day Hospitality you do not need to attend the Health & Fitness Expo. You will have access to Gear Check race morning. You will also need to have your Proof of Vaccine or Negative Covid Test checked race morning. If you are taking Los Angeles Marathon Shuttles, you will have that checked prior to getting on the shuttle. If you are arriving to Dodger Stadium on your own, you will have it checked before entering the secure area.
When does the 72-Hours for testing start?
72-hours starts from the Marathon Race Start at 6:55am Sunday, November 7. The earliest you can get tested is Thursday, November 4 at 6:55am.
